Font - I had an interview scheduled by the manager at 1:00 at my local harbor freight. I arrived a few minutes early and was told it would be a couple minutes to which I thought was no problem I'm five minutes early I assume it may be at most 1:05 I have to wait till. After 15 minutes of waiting I asked another manager what was going on and was told "it will just be another minute". Once it reached the 30 minute mark I decided my time was more valuable than this and went up to the manager I prev

Font - Not a valid excuse in my opinion when they should have cleared the time to take said interview they set up. All in all it felt good to stand up and have a voice instead of waiting like I would have done in the past.

Font - Edit: I am seeing a lot of comments saying "I was rude" or "where are you working now" which are missing the point of why I left the interview. I have to say I did accept a job later in the day from another company so I am employed. This job is not as serious an many of you are making it out to be I mean it's Harbor Freight not a five star restaurant and their are plenty of other retail jobs in my area.

Font - Edit #2: Saw some other comments saying if I really needed the job I should have stayed and at the time I did need the job before I accepted a position somewhere else but waiting is a no go for me. If the interviewer would have came out and said hey this is the run down it may be a while I would have stuck around instead I was told "it'll be one minute she'll be out soon" and that's not professional in my eyes.

Font - Edit #3: last edit to clear up what I said in my first edit. I compared a 5 star restaurant to harbor freight because working as a chef in one would be a harder job to get requiring possible schooling and most likely would be a dream job situation while a retail job doesn't and it's not my dream job. If it was my dream job sure I maybe would have waited and saw it through but its not so I didn't.

Rectangle - Oldmanenok. 11 hr. ago If they feel that entitled to your time when they aren't paying you imagine the entitlement when they are paying for it.

Font - Sum-Duud 3 hr. ago If they had been half an hour late for the interview they wouldn't have gotten the job just the same. OP did the right thing

Font - CmdrDatas Brother 14 hr. ago Remember kids, employers treat you the BEST they ever will during the interview process since they are still trying to convince you to come aboard. So if it's a c py disrespectful baseline before you start working there, watch out and get out.

Font - Intelligent Meal40 - 17 hr. ago If she's with her manager it's her job to tell her manager hey I'm sorry I have an interview a scheduled with someone can I come back in a minute? If she doesn't feel comfortable doing that then you don't want to work there anyway

Font - IamtheBoomstick 17 hr. ago Well done. Know your worth. Your time has value, and them casually delaying your scheduled meeting is an insult.

Font - Paxdog1 14 hr. ago Saying that she is with her nanager just told you that there are two levels of management that don't value employees. It may or may not be true, but that is the optic. Managers should know this. 37 Reply Share Cavs1850 OP. 5 hr. ago This was my exact thought as I left the store. I bet the higher up manager didn't even know an interview was supposed to happen either or she wouldn't have held the interviewing manager up. Or she did know and she sucks too.

Font - pelvic_kidney 3 hr. ago "Why is this position open?" is a question every job seeker should ask in an interview. People are usually caught off guard by that one and tend to answer more honestly.

Font - ImoJenny 15 hr. ago It was likely pre-emptive s testing. If you're willing to wait an hour for an interview then you're probably fairly desperate and they can push you around in other ways. Reply Share 81 andros_vanguard. 12 hr. ago That's giving these dunces way more credit than they probably deserve.

Font - Stuckand Treading. 12 hr. ago She's telling you that your time isn't as valuable as hers, which is feeding into the treat employees like s mentality. Cheers to you for recognizing that, for saying something, and for walking out with jaws dropped. But let me guess...no oNe WaNtS to work aNyMoRe

Font - ptm93 13 hr. ago Had an interview like that, one of a series of several. The interviewer was about 30 minutes late, had no idea what I did or why she was interviewing me. Letting this one experience slide was the worst mistake I ever made. I did get the job, and this particular individual made my life a living h shortly after. Still feeling ptsd from that previous job. Should have gone with my gut.

Font - JoshuaThe Origin - 18 hr. ago This happened to me when i was a youngin' applying for a local supermarket. I did end up waiting it out but after showing up for my first day and seeing how disorganized everything was, I clocked out after an hour and quit. I still have that paycheck too.

Font - Nicky-unicorn 10 hr. ago It's bad that they became hostile to you when you've been punctual & polite. I think a bit of payback is deserved. I'd be tempted to either write or email the CEO of the company. You never know the CEO may be completely in the dark about how badly the place is run. Could even lead to an offer of something higher up the chain.

Font - or snowtol 9 hr. ago I had a similar thing happen with an online interview during COVID. During the first meeting the recruiter was 10m late, I was annoyed but whatever. For the interview with the manager, they asked me when I had time and I said I can do it whenever you want. They told me they'd call me at 1.30pm, sure. 2pm rolls around and no call, so I sent them an email thanking them for their interest but this is a massive red flag for me. What did they write back? "Oh something came

Font - Tarcye 11 hr. ago edited 10 hr. ago I have 2 instant walk out rules when it comes to interviews: 1: making someone wait more than 10 minutes after the agreed upon time. 2: Making someone who applied by a resume fill out a job application before doing said interview. Car dealerships do #2 a lot in my experience. If you need a Job application done for record keeping then we can do that after you offer me the job. Not before it. Get the F out of here with that s.
